I have a new favorite oxymoron: “theological importance”

He quoted R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as saying that Love Wins is “theologically disastrous. Any of us should be concerned when a matter of theological importance is played with in a subversive way.”


If we can’t imagine people who disagree with us burning in horrible pain for all eternity, life just doesn’t have the same zest.

Hell as part of the Christian meme isn’t just a stick to frighten people. Its part of the carrot as well; the satisfaction of imagining that the unjust will finally get whats coming to them in death if not in life.
